Broadway and opera may feel like separate entities, but the relationship between the two are undeniable. They both draw on a theater tradition that extends back to Ancient Greece, and both combine music and text to bring powerful stories to the stage.
Opera—along with dancing, acting, and other art forms—ultimately lay the groundwork for the modern musical theater seen on Broadway today. You’ll hear music from shows like Aida, Rigoletto, Man of La Mancha, and Phantom of the Opera, sung by the Amelia Island Singers and four Amelia Island Opera soloists, accompanied by a professional orchestra, generously sponsored in part by The Burroughs Family Foundation, under the direction of Toni Myers.
