We love Fall. It’s a celebration of cooler temps, football games, oyster roasts, bonfires, and pumpkin spice everything. On Amelia Island, it’s also about celebrating the endangered Right Whale, taking on a half marathon with your best girlfriends, enjoying some really good music, and becoming a kid again at the fair.
Take a look at these FALL EVENTS you won’t want to miss and then pack your bags. It’s time for an Autumn harvest of memory making!
October 6. Bring your lawn chairs, family, and dancing shoes to the foot of Centre Street to enjoy the final free concert of the Sounds on Centre season. The Amelia Blues Band will play all your classic rock and blues favorites and fill the waterfront area in Historic Downtown Fernandina Beach. There will be prizes to give away, face painting, pirates and lots of dancing in the streets!
October 12 – 22. Go back to your childhood at the northeast Florida Fair, held just a hop, skip and a jump away in Callahan, Florida. Enjoy thrill rides, games, candied apples, cotton candy, live music, hundreds of livestock entrants, and all the things that go along with a small town fair.
October 14 – 15. ZOOMA Amelia Island is the most popular race in the ZOOMA Women’s Race series and has been voted a Top 20 Half Marathon by BibRave for five years in a row! It includes including two days of running, an expo, post-race party and sunrise yoga on the oceanfront lawn of the Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island. Pamper yourself after the race with mimosas, food, massage, yoga, shopping, and music!
November 4 & 5. The Right Whale Festival celebrates the annual return of endangered North Atlantic right whales to our warm coastal waters. With as few as 450 remaining, this family-fun event raises awareness of the threats to right whales and how we can help in their recovery. The festival highlights ocean-themed activities and exhibits that emphasize education and environmentally responsible adventures and products. Photo credit: Right Whale Festival
The Amelia Island Chamber Music Festival is one of the most prestigious music events of its kind in the Southeast and a star-studded line-up is once again planned for the 23rd season, which kicks off in January 2024. However, two not-to-be-missed programs will take place in advance of the regular season: Cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason will make his Festival debut on Sunday, November 5; and legendary trumpeter Wynton Marsalis featuring vocalist Ashley Pezzotti, will get you in the holiday spirit on Thursday, November 30 with the world’s swingingest Jazz Orchestra. NOTE: The Fairbanks House and Destination Amelia are both offering special packages for this event!
